Jonathan Davis comenzó a escribir para este lanzamiento en 2007 cuando realizó una gira en solitario con su banda «The Simply Fucking Amazings» (SFA). Escribió varias demos en ese momento. Durante el lapso de una década, escribió las canciones y se filtraron o lanzaron a voluntas.

KXM se formó cuando los tres miembros se conocieron durante una fiesta de cumpleaños para el hijo de Luzier. Según Lynch, el nombre KXM se deriva de la banda de tiempo completo de cada miembro: K de Korn, X de King’s X y M de Lynch Mob.
